Today we’re looking at Dominique Goyette-Connerty, our Marketing Specialist. Instead of talking about them, let’s let them talk for themselves in this short Q&A interview.

Why Did You Decide to Make the Jump to Content Marketing with Vision?

Before this role with Vision, I had careers both as a TV news producer for a large company and as a director of communications for a small nonprofit. While those two positions varied greatly in daily responsibilities and work environments, I came to realize that what I enjoyed most about the marketing communications and journalism fields is the similar root they share: storytelling. Without realizing it, we use and are receptive to storytelling all the time.

In the marketing and advertising world, we work to creatively tell stories about businesses and organizations—their brands, products, and services—that will ultimately drive sales, generate leads, educate, or raise awareness. In joining the Vision team, I knew I could help our clientele of small and medium-sized businesses be successful in their marketing efforts.

However, the number one reason I decided to join the Vision team was because of the unique culture and work environment leadership has cultivated here. When I came across the job posting, I was very attracted to the facts that Vision: is 100% woman-owned and -operated, recognizes their employees are human and puts their well-being above all, offers unlimited PTO, trusts their team to work fully remotely, and allows staff members to determine their own work schedules to help them thrive both personally and professionally. Our COO firmly believes that happy, healthy, competent employees are the key to the business’ success and bottom line. I truly admired this forward-thinking leadership style and knew that working for a small agency like this was a unique opportunity I wanted to seize!

Besides Writing, What Other Skills Do You Bring to the Table?

Aside from writing, I have experience in email marketing, social media content creation and management, public relations, and even some basic graphic design skills.

What Should Clients Know About Working with You?

I’m incredibly detail-oriented and precise. 10 times out of 10, I would rather spend the extra time making sure work is done accurately and to a high-quality standard, rather than just done quickly. I’m a hyper-organized person—yes, color-coded calendars, several to-do lists, and all those fun things—so I’m always planning ahead, usually much further down the road than I need to. I also tend to think I’m one of the funniest people I know (maybe I just don’t know enough people). So, if you appreciate dry humor and bad puns, we’ll get along even better!

What Do You Do When You’re Not Working?
