Domain Extensions and Variations

.Com is the “buzzword” for the internet. If people can’t remember what your domain is, they’ll usually remember the company name and stick a .com at the end of it when trying to visit your site. If you can get a .com domain, do it. If you can only get the .net with the .com, you’re even better off.

  • www.companyonline.com is good domain variation.
  • www.ecompany.com is another good domain variation.

Don’t be afraid to shorten your company name so you can get an easier domain. For branding purposes, it can do wonders for your company’s memorability. For example, if your law firm’s name is “Smith, Russell, Marcus and Thomas, LLC” you could try www.sandr.com, www.smithrussel.com, www.srmtlaw.com, or www.smithrussellaw.com.
