We are a proud founding member of the World Green Business Association (WGBA), and we meet their standards in our commitment to keep our agency ecologically focused. Going green was definitely the right choice for us, and it is for any business. It is easy and the results are quantifiable.
Allow us to summarize for you the valuable mission and purpose of the WGBA:
The World Green Business Association is dedicated to encouraging businesses to scrutinize their operations and consider how they affect the environment. The WGBA educates and informs businesses on the importance of integrating green practices into every day operations. Those businesses that implement these principles receive incentives as a display of gratitude for helping to decrease carbon emissions that lead to global warming.
Vision Advertising takes these objectives to heart, and we are committed to helping to see them achieved. The agency is based on high standards and values that we demand in all aspects of our business. We push so that our clients will succeed; we also push an ecologically-friendly work environment that will someday lead to success for our global society.
These are some of the principles that we, as a WGBA-certified green business, are committed to:
Daily Operations
- We keep our printers/copiers in “sleep” mode to reduce energy draw
- We email paperwork whenever possible to reduce paper use
- We take steps to reduce the amount of bulk mail and duplicate mailings we get
- We use natural lighting as opposed to artificial lighting whenever possible
- We allow natural air flow as opposed to conditioned air whenever possible
- We turn off our lights and computers at the end of the day (and weekend)
- We use task lighting instead of large overhead lights at every opportunity
- We reuse packing and shipping materials
- We encourage the use of laptops as opposed to desktops (50% less energy usage). Our server is a workstation, the rest of our systems are laptops.
- We inform our suppliers and/or customers about our green business interests and efforts, then solicit their suggestions and involvement
- We use only 100% post-consumer paper for our in-house printing needs
- We involve employees in developing our green business plan and get their input
- We provide training for our employees on implementing green practices
- We buy as many goods in bulk as possible to reduce packaging and waste
- We encourage our employees to carpool whenever possible
Recycling
- We recycle all of our paper, glass, metal, and plastic
- We recycle boxes, and reuse as many packing materials as possible
- We encourage our neighboring businesses to recycle
- We use the other side of used sheets for scrap and drafts
Accounting/Marketing
- We keep our accounting records in digital files only, including our backups
- We keep all of our data backups in digital format instead of printing physical backups
- We use an accounting service that uses electronic filing
- We have marketing materials that do not require envelopes
- We email all of our invoices and other business forms
- We email our marketing materials, proposals and agreements whenever possible
- We reduce copying by using electronic distribution to avoid unnecessary document printing, and we set copier and printer defaults to two-sided
- We’ve replaced printed marketing campaigns with web-only campaigns not only for our agency, but for many of our clients and their businesses - saving exponential dollars and trees
- We rely on and employ internet, viral marketing, and PR activities, and encourage our clients to do the same
- We print our marketing materials (and those of our clients) on paper with at least 30% post-consumer content whenever possible
- We buy supplies locally and use local wholesalers whenever possible
- We encourage “green” practices by our customers and suppliers
At Vision Advertising, we always want to make the best choice. Becoming a green business (doing the right thing) has proved incredibly beneficial to our agency and has been a largely profitable choice in terms of savings and redirection of funds into growth areas.
